Hi Claude. I wouldn´t go as fars as saying this is a definate rule. I´ve seen this done in older houses, and when the inner ceiling is in place, its not visible anymore. Maybe if there is an upper floor using the same supporting walls, it would have to built into the wall, but if it was an open ...   READ
