Hi-Tech Details makes many parts to detail particular diesel locomotives of specific railroads. This injection-molded EUC box is for "XR" GE U-boats.

"XR" U-boats
General Electric launched their Universal Series locomotives - "U-boats" - in early 1956 to compete against EMD.
The GE "XR" Series was initially part of an early basis for the later succeeding "Dash 7" series of diesel locomotives built by GE from around 1972 to 1975, and the "XR" series itself was practically GE's response to their rival EMD's "Dash 2" line of upgraded and improved types of diesel locomotives using the ever-popular (yet failure-prone) 645-series engine.

Several "XR" Series U30B units (or pre-Dash 7); units built with longer warranties, were sold to the SLSF (Saint Louis And San Francisco, or simply "Frisco") railroad in 1972, while other models (such as the U30C-XR) were eventually sold to the Louisville And Nashville (L&N) railroad and Rock Island much later.*

(I do not know what an EUC is nor how common they were. RailRoadModeling welcomes your posts to clarify and explain this.)
EUC Box Plain Door XR Series U-Boats
Hi-Tech Details packages this unit in a plastic bag stapled onto an eye-catching fuchsia card label with black printing.

This EUC is sharply molded in gray styrene. It shows hinge and latch detail. The "feet" are the remains of the sprue it was molded to..

Instructions and painting
HTD explains on the back of the card: Mounts behind firemans side rear of cab. See prototype photos for exact placement.

Conclusion
Modelers of 1970s GE "XR" U-boats can bring their models ever closer to authenticity and accuracy with this sharp part.

It could also be used as a generic cabinet on or in any range of models. Happily recommended.

Our Thanks to Hi-Tech Details who provided this model for review! Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on RailRoadModeling.
