Scenery specialist NOCH
produces hard foam models simulating stone and masonry for modelers to create their own structures and scenery. 'Wall, graduated on the left'
or 'Light Rail Wall'), item 58088
is one choice, part of the Hard Foam series
Light Rail Wall / Stadtbahnmauer
This piece is made of a hard foam and packed in a heavy plastic bag.
A multidimensional facade simulates rough stonework and concrete or stucco, and is capped by cut stone. It measures 20,5 x 12,5 cm / 8.07 (8 11/16th) inch x 4.9 (4 59/64th) inch. Modelers can use this for retaining and property walls, to abut arches and portals, and for buildings. NOCH also makes one stepping to the right.
You can cut the material, scribe and distress it for texture, and even heat it for shaping. See the photo where I pocked holes in it with a scissor. This foam is also suitable for solvent based paints.
NOCH advertises it for HO scale, which is 1/87. Obviously, stone structures can be of all sizes of rocks and thus the only limiting factor for scale is a modeler's imagination.
That you may judge the size to your need I show it in
HO with a standard 40 foot box car and a 55-ton hopper
1/72 with a P-40 Warhawk
1/48 - O scale with an M10 tank destroyer
1/35 with a Tiger tank
A card label serves as a backdrop, label, and instruction sheet. NOCH prints the limited instructal information in German and English. Other complimentary Hard Foam models are presented on the back.
Whether you model military or civil non-railroad subjects, or a model railway, I think this Hard Foam wall is a very useful product. It is easy to work with and looks very authentic. It provides a 3-D effect in sturdy light material.
Light Rail Wall
) is a quick and effective way to create stone work for your layout and diorama. Recommended.
