The Set

One hundred twenty-eight pieces molded in four colors make up this set.
You get 69 pieces of foodstuffs. Apples, bananas, breads, cheeses, cucumbers, cabbages, pears, peppers, etc., 32 produce boxes, 16 different sacks, and an impressive 11 piece scale. All this comes packed in a lightweight colorful carton sealed with tape.
Detail

The molding of most of these pieces is sharp and fine. There is a warning on the box to be careful as the pieces can be sharp!
Quality

No flash or seam lines are evident. I spy no ejector marks or sink holes. The sprues are thick, as are many of the bridges to the parts.
Value

While these are designed for 1/87 (HO scale ), the set can easily pass for 1/72 and 1/76 ( OO ) scale. As there are so many produce items of varied size in the world, these can realistically work in the larger scales, too. Especially the sacks; depending on the scale they can be 100 lbs / 50 kg, or bags of goodies that fit in one’s hand.

Whether you are looking to provision a civil or military vehicle or diorama, or load up a railroad station storeroom, this set is a full load, or at least a good start.
Summary

Preiser KG makes high quality models for practically any subject. The range of subjects and scales offers something for almost any modeler. Many of their sets will work for any setting, military or civil. They have great crossover potential. While the peculiarities of international commerce make some sets expensive for what you get, most of their products are within a competitive price range. This set, useful and well done as it may be, is a bit pricey.

I enjoy my versatile Preiser sets and recommend them.
Company History
Since 1949, family-owned Preiser KG produces an enormous selection ( 1,400 sets ) of figures, vehicle models and accessories for train layouts, dioramas, and professionals in architecture and engineering design concepts. Best known amongst model railroaders in the scales of HO (1/87), N (1/160), Z (1 /220), several G scales (1 /22.5 through 1 /29) and 1 Gauge (1/32), Preiser is increasing their ever expanding product line with military figures and accessories from World War Two and the NATO / modern era. These are in the popular military scales of 1/32, 1/35, 1/48, 1/72, 1/87, 1/144 and 1/350. They also produce civilians and soldiers dating back to Fredrich II of Prussia, the 1500's, the Normans, Vikings, Romans and even figures from the Winnetou novels.

Many sets are hand painted. The hand painting assures no two items are identical. You can have several of the same set and rarely find the same paint jobs, except for military uniforms, of course.

Countless poses will cover practically any project envisioned. Several sets are multi-pose. To read a sampling of figure sets, and more Preiser reviews, visit the link below.

I'm a professional pilot with a degree in art. My first model was an AMT semi dump truck. Then Monogram's Lunar Lander right after the lunar landing. Next, Revell's 1/32 Bf-109G...cried havoc and released the dogs of modeling! My interests--if built before 1900, or after 1955, then I proba...
