Introduction

Herpa continues their ever growing line of modern vehicles with this sporty BMW M3 sedan. Sixty-three M3 series are currently offered by Herpa.

BMW M3 Series

Luxury coupes and sedans have evolved into touring cars, and touring cars are evolving into luxury sportcars. Into this class BMW includes their M3 Series.

The BMW 3 Series is a mid-size/executive car manufactured by BMW since 1975. The car, now in its fourth generation, is sold in sedan and coupe body styles. It is BMW's bestselling model. The 3 Series is powered by a high-rev V8 producing 420 hp. Further new features are the double-clutch DKG Drivelogic transmission, Auto Start Stop, and EfficentDynamics technology that turns off the engine when the car is still.

Herpa BMW 3er

Your BMW 3er is factory assembled. It’s securely packed in a form-fitted tray held inside a clear plastic carton with end opening flaps. A red Herpa label decorates the packaging.

The model is skillfully molded and assembled with any blemishes or flaws. Doors, hoods and panels lines are defined with fine recessed lines; the grille intentions are much deeper. The door handles are slightly raised. Underneath the car is a single piece chassis with very basic molded detail. Soft tires, with no tread detail, are pressed upon detailed hubs to support the model.

Detail and Trim

The model features headlights and tail lights of appropriately colored clear lenses. Tan interior detail inside the passenger compartment includes a dashboard, steering wheel, gear shift, and bucket seats. This detail is easy to see through distortion-free clear plastic windows.

The red automobile is trimmed with black chrome around the windows. The black grille also sports chrome detailing. Wipers are molded into the windshield chrome.

The model features separately applied side view mirrors. Twin chromed exhaust ports peek out from underneath the rear bumper.

Finish

The model is painted and the finish is smooth. The rims are molded in color. Herpa offers it in rot/red, and mentions a future release in Marrakesh brown metallic. BMW emblems are printed on the hood and rear. No decals are used.

Off the Lot

This HO scale BMW 3er is a pleasing little model of a modern luxury sports sedan. Each one you add to your modern model railroad or diorama will enhance it. Recommended.
