Introduction
This fourth edition of Kalmbach's Tourist Trains Guidebook presents 495 very popular train rides, museums, and dinner trains in the U.S. and Canada.
Full-page reviews written by Trains magazine editors and contributors cover nearly 200 sites, with shorter listings featuring an additional 295 excursion trains, museums, and historical depots. - Kalmbach Publishing Co.

Contents
This softcover book is a good size for baggie cargo pants pockets or a camera bag. Railfans and railroad modelers have a wealth of resources within these pages. The authors do a fine and brief job with synopsis of the museums and locales. They even add things to do away from the trains, like visiting a favorable diner or drive-in theater.

There are a few museums and available trains that were missed, such as the three-mile run up Doe River Gorge on restored East Tennessee & Western North Carolina narrow-gauge track, and a great little private museum in Duffield, Virginia. Your community may have a local museum or some artifacts in a park that is beyond the scope of this book, perhaps similar to the preceding examples.

The book offers web and email addresses, telephone numbers, and admission hours and information. Furthermore, they list train rides like excursions and dinner trains, and other special events.

Photos and graphics
Most pages have a full color photograph of the facility, 200 color photos in fact.

Conclusion
This is a fine concise resource for modelers and railfans to use to find their way to fun railroad sites. Each page has useful information to help you make a good decision where to spend your limited time. The photographs are excellent.

There is no real problem with this book. I can happily recommend it.

Please remember to tell Kalmbach and vendors that you saw this here - on RailRoadModeling.
