As someone who has a background in science education, specifically astronomy, I think the Apollo program was one of mankinds greatest achievments. I only wish we had a more robust space program in the United States. I speak of the manned program for the unmanned programs; i.e. robot probes have often been wildly successful!!
I have often said to children that their future literally lies in space exploration. I think if we are to survive as a species we are going to need to colonize Mars and move out into the outer solar system as well. There are so many good reasons we should explore, not the least of which is it is in our nature.
My next model build is probably going to be the Airfix Saturn IB rocket. I am looking forward to it. Russell
