Here is mine starting today
This won't look like the box art or movie finish it will be my own take on the ship colours

Peter, great to see the Kazon Raider included. I always thought that they had a very cool fish type shape. Sort of a Large mouth bass inspired spacecraft.

Any opinions on how my first attempt at working with enamel streaking worked?

Kevin, I like your enamel streaking. Keep up the good work.

Brent,
Just a question. I was going to post some final photos in the gallery for this campaign and I have not found it in the listings. Has one been setup for this campaign? If so, where does it live?

Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen, I posed the question of the gallery to the powers that be. We will have an answer shortly.

Hey all, Fred helped get our Star Trek II WofN loaded. I've tested a load. It can be found here

HI Folks,
Some great builds being posted for this campaign. I've got a lot going on right now but I wanted to get my start photo posted.

This is the 1983 printing of the 3 ship set. I hope to build all three. This is going to be a retro type build. I'm not going to use any aftermarket stuff, just OOB with maybe a little scratching to correct the most egregious flaws. The kit comes with a triple stand for the three models but I intend to mount them separately.

Live Long And Prosper!

I'll start with my Defiant, I am too curious to see how she looks with her decals on. Normally I would paint her a blueish-white color but the decals have a lot of white on them so I will go with white as the base coat.

Some fantastic builds. Great to see some Defiants being done, easily one of my favourite ships.

Stephen, your K'Tinga is amazing and I love the finish. I have the old Undiscovered Country boxing somewhere in my stash.

I must remember to enlist and make a start on my Grissom. Had too many real life things going on at the moment. Recently had to gut and rebuild the bathroom thanks to a leaky shower, but I now have some spare time to get back to the modelling room.

Hello you all. My build for the WofN4003 Campaign will be the classic Klingon D7. I'm thinking about finishing it in a classic 1950's automobile meets 1960's Soviet color scheme; aqua, white, dove gray, silver, red colors.

Some great builds going on guys. Brent, I am looking forward to seeing your paint scheme for the Klingon D7.

I started with the Romulan Bird of Prey. Here's where I am at right now. You would think that a kit with a total of 3 parts would be a breeze to put together. But not for this ham fisted son of a Borellean. I had to shorten the locator pins and still did lots of filling and sanding of the joints. I don't have an airbrush so I used a rattle can primer which left a grainy surface. Not happy so I stripped it and tried a rattle can of model master ghost gray. Liked the color but it drew every pet hair and dust mote within a parsec so I stripped it again and brushed on the model master ghost gray (had a bottle also). I can live with it now. The engine nozzles were painted Tamiya grey metallic. I had lots of trouble painting the inside of the nozzles. I recommend painting them before assembling the hull halves.

The kit has 3 significant errors and few other minor issues. The significant items are (1)the hull does not have the angled edge like the Enterprise main saucer; (2) the hull and engine nozzles are too short; and (3) the bussard collectors should be hemispheres instead of globes on the ends of the nacelles. Fixing (1) and (2) are beyond my skill level but I wanted to try to fix the collectors. I cut off the globes and after several failed attempts at fabricating appropriately sized hemispheres I discovered by accident that various sized gem and pearl hemispheres are available in the scrapbooking section of my local hobby store. I picked up a pack of 60 variously sized pearl hemispheres for less than a dollar. The 1/4 inch size will be perfect. They will be installed after painting and decaling are finished.

I added several additional sensor arrays on the top hull. Since the hull is too short I was only able to make two 3 sensor arrays along the sides instead of the 3 sets on the original stage model. Since I had to do so much sanding to remove the first two paint attempts I decided to drill the holes to help make them more visible. I also used a small length of 2mm Evergreen strip to add the mount for the plasma weapon on the nose.

On the underside you'll notice I filled the hole for the kit stand and drilled a hole at the stern as I want to mount the ship at an angle so the BOP decal can be seen.

Anyway, here are a couple of pics.

John, the BofP is looking good. I put together the set of three back in the day. I used spray can Pactra Rebel Gray as my color. It came out well.

Finished! I had to take some time off of work so I was able to dedicate a good chunk of time to this little guy. The decals softened nicely with a lot of help from my little friend Micro Sol.

David,
Excellent work on the defiant.
Brent,
I like your thoughts on your colors for the D7. I'm thinking along the same lines for mine. I've started on it while I wait on my touch-ups to the Romulan BoP to dry. Looking forward to seeing what you do with her.

John and all. I've been playing around with the color scheme and have come up with this twist on Klingon Cannon. Subject to modification of course.

Brent,
I like that color scheme. I'm hoping to use some similar colors but not that exact scheme.

All,
I'm calling my Romulan Bird of Prey done. I apologize for the quality of the photos. My phone doesn't take great photos. I used a manila colored background which kind of washed out some of the light grey coloring.
I was really surprised how well the decals went down considering they are 34 years old. I did my best to center the bird but it looks like one wing decal is slightly longer than the other so that it rolls up the side of the nacelle a little more. I mounted the ship at a slight angle to try to compensate but it still looks off a little to me. I changed the engine exhaust to Tamiya Gunmetal to get a little more contrast with the nacelles. I also found some red rectangular decals in my spares boxes to represent the sub-light engines. Just a little artistic license. I'm really happy with the way the pearl hemispheres turned out. I used the bases I've prepped for the other two ships in the kit to hold down my background sheet. I think they turned out okay as well. I've started the Enterprise and D7. I'll get those starting photos up soon.
Here's the final photos. I'll post some in the campaign folder too.
Thanks guys
John

Brent,
Thanks, but it isn't pearl paint. They are actual stick-on pearl hemispheres used for scrapbooking. I glued them on for better holding.
