Back with an update.
The base kit really doesn't have much in the way of weapons. This one just has the nebelwerfer looking weapon for its right hand. Other versions of this kit have rocket pods or large versions of laser rifles for them to carry. The latter always seems impractical but it's an anime based mech.
I had two armored radio boxes from a couple of old Dragon StuG kits. They fit perfect where I wanted to place them. So that's the housing. For the guns I had two options. The first was a pair of optional 75mm guns from an Academy Hetzer kit. The other option was a pair of optional guns from a couple of Heller R35 tanks. After some posing, I went with the Heller guns. The 75mm guns were too big. The Heller guns looked better.
I mixed the two kits' gun halves (tan & gray). I cut off the rear of the guns, behind the mantlet. I scratched some mounting bits. The squares with the X-ribbing came from the spares and will serve as access panels to the guns.

Assembled and mounted. The smaller guns shouldn't be broken as easily if the mech falls over. I originally thought these would be small caliber antitank weapon...better tech makes for better weapon efficiency. Smaller rounds mean more ammunition carrying capacity. Being a sci-fi subject, I might just go with a partical weapon and not worry about ammunition.

So now the arms. The right arm has the nebelwerfer looking thing. I figure missiles for this, even though the tubes are rifled. I'm debating adding a cannon to the center tube and ammunition magazine to the opening on the side. I probably won't use it, just because it sticks out so far. Plus, I have the dual waist guns.
The left arm I gave a laser assembly. Two pulse lasers flanking a larger laser in the middle. I figure the pulse lasers would fill the same role as a coax MG. For energy use, the smaller lasers could not be used at the same time as the center laser. I kept the barrels short. I figured if they were too long they'd interfere with or be damaged when trying to use the hand.
Both arms has some added detail added to the flat sections of the upper arm casings.

I decided to remove the foot spike things. I didn't see a real use for them. I didn't want them on there and risk them being mistaken as foot rockets or something.
The circular things on the feet line up where axles would be for themoving parts of the feet. I added some bits to the feet for added detail to represent the mount ends for these axles. Some are center wheel hubs from an Italeri LAV-25. I had to mix them just due to the number of them.

Basic assembly done and ready for paint. I decided to leave off the big scope lense assembly on the visor. And I'll decide against using the claw...I actually decided on that while I was masking off the joints for paint. I also left off the antenna array...opting for a more normal looking one to be mounted on the backpack looking thing. I also removed the laser barrels for paint.

Ready to paint. I wanted to keep the inner mechanical bits dark gray so I masked them off. I disassembled the limbs. I used plastic cling wrap, wrapping them around the inner parts. I then re-attached the armored casings. The only tape I had to use was around the knees to keep the plastic wrap from bucling when bent.
I shot the base coat as a primer coat. I went with a rattle-can of Rustoleum gray auto primer. The original plan was to go with a tan/green or tan/darker gray camo schemes. I kind of like the overall gray. I might go with a secondary color. I'm still debating that.

Paint dried...but still stinking. The inner bits are still masked off so articulation is a bit stiff. I did pose it with a 1/35 Tamiya T34 to show how big this thing is.

I'll give it a couple of days to fully dry and the smell to go away. I still have to make the pilot figure. And I'm thinking about adding a gun and/or a rocket pod to the backpack. I'd liek to re-furbish those Terminator figures I used last campaign for infantry. I'd like to do a diorama...either a street scene or a mech bay scene...but I don't want to get ahead myself again. And of course the background story.

I'd like to do a diorama...either a street scene or a mech bay scene...but I don't want to get ahead myself again. I have a neat idea for the former. And of course the background story.
