1⁄32Stellar Star Trek Starship Bridge
Notes From Ron
I used 1/16 styrene and placed it under the entire kit. Painting the kit was interesting due to the multiple colors and the thin edging around the screens,I taped all of the areas where the decals would be so that light would show through. After the main kit was complete I made the overhead lighting panels 1/16 styrene it was timing consuming but worth it,then used clear styrene and painted where lighting will be. I attached the kit to 17" diameter plywood,it is lit with nothing more than LED light strips. Then came the hard part framing for the exterior hull,by using reference photos I figured out the domes roundness after framing I covered. It with very thin balsa wood and covered that with all purpose bondo, and a couple of coats of drywall finishing mud and did a lot of sanding. The domes center piece is nothing more than a clock face after priming and painting It was finally done. There are things that would do different now and smell aces are not perfect, the nice thing is the dome is completely removable this is so I can add to it like bridge sounds and later fiber optics that will be animated. Hope everyone enjoys the photos and if anyone would like one built of this or any other type of kit, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will discuss cost and other things then.
